Feasibility Assessment of Stiff Seismic Base Absorbers

چکیده

In this paper, a radically new concept of Stiff Seismic Base Absorber (SBA) is proposed for seismic protection multistory building structures. An inerter first implemented, connecting directly the structure to ground. This results in decrease natural frequency structure, without decreasing its structural stiffness. Parallel, negative stiffness-based absorber used increase apparent damping behavior inerter. The additional mass SBA connected with stiffness (NS) element and base positive one. Also, an artificial damper placed parallel each element. design includes following novel features: (1) foresees variation all elements, (2) optimal system parameters are selected based on engineering criteria proper constraints limitations dynamic responses, (3) earthquake input motion according codes, (4) displacement-dependent non-linear configuration realization NS element, (5) detuning phenomena observed via sensitivity analysis. Compared other vibration absorbers, presents several advantages. improved superstructure combined small displacements, order few centimeters. drastically reduced displacements render implementation feasible using conventional elements. As result, realistic retrofitting option protection.

Seismic Hazard Assessment and Determination of Maximum Design Base Acceleration of Yazd

According to Iranian code of practice for seismic resistant design of buildings standard No. 2800, Yazd is located in the place with the medium earthquake hazard [1]. Due to the position of Yazd with many historical and important buildings, maintaining these traditional heritages is an important task in civil engineering field. On account of these mentioned valuable buildings and region potenti...

Seismic Performance of Torsionally Stiff and Flexible Single Story Buildings Designed Based on Iranian Seismic Code(Standard 2800)

This paper examines differences in performances of a range of torsionally stiff and flexible single story buildings designed with the provisions of Iranian Standard 2800. Seismic nonlinear dynamic time history behavior of eight building models subjected to seven horizontal bi-directional design spectra compatible ground motions are investigated. These models cover a wide range of very torsional...

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

Seismic Risk Assessment of Power Substations

Power networks are among the most important infrastructures that without them, industrial, economic and social procedures will halt. Therefore, they should be planned for the most difficult conditions to provide services with minimum disruption. Power substations are of great importance to a power network, because any disruption in their components can produce extensive problems through the net...
